Today was the first day of the D Conference: The sixth annual "D: All Things Digital" media and technology conference, hosted by The Wall Street Journal's Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher, taking place May 27 to 29 in Carlsbad, California. The registration fee is nearly $5000 per person, and I was told they had a waiting list of 600. Even Robert Scoble, "The Scobelizer" wasn't invited this year… (and he seemed peeved…).
For the rest of us, we waited to hear about it from various online sources. One of the best pieces of information came from this video, which showed the potential Windows 7 interface. I saw a glimpse of a video from a cell phone, that showed a woman demonstrating a paint program using her fingers. The thing is, why would you want to use your fingers in a paint program? They are clumsy and fat compared to a stylis, etc. I like the tactile quality, but I see that there will be a market for finger pads and covers that allow you to work at a higher resolution…Or will the screen scale up, so your fingers become "small enough"?
