• Poverty as a Destabilizing Strategy.

Thought today: We talk of poverty being limiting, and constraining one’s ability to capitalize on one’s human potential, but we never discuss the intentional bestowing of poverty by those in a dominant class or position on those who the group feels is destabilizing to their continued control.

  • The Dark Hole Where Bradley Manning Survives.

Michael Ratner, the President of the Center for Constitutional Rights, and one of the lawyers for Julian Assange believes Manning is being mistreated in prison, and that his case is being stalled, intentionally, in hopes that Manning will turn against Julian Assange, and in a sense, deliver him to the US Authorities.

  • Jeff Buckley: Interview About Working

I was not aware of Jeff Buckley’s work until today. I found him unexpectedly, somehow, as described in an earlier post I wrote today. Tonight I found this interview with him. It is brief, and well worth the time. He describes in simple terms, his way of approaching creative work. It is so clear, it… Continue Reading

  • Laws Expressive Value in Combating Gender Cyber Harassment

This is a wonderful article for the Michigan Law Review on gender and cyber harassment. It discusses how the impact and goal of the use of Cyber harassment on women, is primarily economic; that is to remove them from their careers or keep them from succeeding in their chosen fields. It also states that enforcement of cyberstalking is similar to enforcement of domestic violence 50 years ago; it is poorrly understood by law enforcement.

  • Meaning Slips

пустые падает дождь как стекло заливки.
It is interesting to see what becomes of abstract meaning in language translations. Today I tried to find a point of equilibrium with abstract meaning, in a language translator. I had to work and refine both the English and Russian statements, until they reached an equilibrium, and both interpreted the statement with the same meaning. It was an interesting process.

  • Palindromes: Fibonacci Analysis Could Be Much More.

Amazing how common/popular these games were 2,000 years ago. I like the transcription from a numerical/abstract space in your head into a 2D flat plane; a natural grid… It would be fun to do this with Fibonacci numbers; as a filter to analyze price movements to see what forms emerge; not to just let the price values hit an overlay of Fibonacci levels as is common now in technical analysis; but to allow the values themselves to unfold a form, as the values in a Palindrome create a form.

  • Artist Julie Mehretu: The Seven Acts of Mercy

Julie Mehretu’s images appear to be swirling masses of information or locations which have been set free from any geographic constraints, yet form their own geographies. • Goldman Sachs Fraud: Only survivor, the fabulous Fab

Around 10:30 AM ET, Goldman Sachs shares plummeted as the SEC announced that they were charging Goldman Sachs with fraud. It has been no secret that Goldman Sachs was involved with the demise of the housing market, and the financial crisis, yet it was unclear exactly how they were involved.

  • Apple’s use of Apps will shift the search paradigm.

Apps (applications on the iPhone and iPad), are about to change the way we access information on the internet. During a presentation on the new iPhone OS4, Steve Jobs discussed this transition, during his introduction to iAd, their new mobile computing advertising platform.

  • The iPad: Steve Jobs’ Gestural Glass

With the iPad, Apple has created a new platform for viewing the world. It is like an old Xray film which the technician pulls out of a sheath allowing us to peer into our bodies and what lies beneath our skin. But in this case, we hold the film outward to envision and construct the world around us. The form of it is simple, visual and gestural, like a stroke in calligraphy.
