A discussion, occurring in May 2015, before the Hoffman report was released in July 2015, which reviewed the APA’s role in condoning torture in order to allow illegal torture to continue to be carried out. Participants in this discussion make it clear, that White House officials worked closely with leadership of the APA, to create a task force which would use CIA language, to twist words in order to make illegal torture legal. They also said that this effort to find a way for the United States to continue using illegal torture methods, by obtaining the support of psychologists through APA leadership, is currently being continued today, under the Obama administration.
